Jeep Rentals
 |
This is the only way to really see the Rockies.
Each year we buy new Jeep Wranglers with automatic
transmissions for those who are clutch impaired.
Each Jeep also has air conditioning and Sirius Satellite
Radio. There are hundreds of miles of 4-wheel drive
roads, and we provide you with the trail maps.
|
We do have an age requirement...no whipper snappers
under age 25 can rent them.
Be prepared to do your best billy goat impression
and then take in the most spectacular scenery you've
ever seen,

Rafting
Rafting the Rio Grande is worth doing. The calmness
of the river, the surrounding mountains and cliffs make
it one of the most fun activities The Cove offers. The tour
is self guided...the paddling is up to you. We have
2 to 6-person rafts and all the safety gear. We will
drop you off at the river to begin your float adventure
and pick you up after your 14-mile float down the Rio Grande.
The cost of the float adventure:

Guided Horseback Rides
|
Now where would a "dude ranch" be without the
horses? It is "prequisite-101" in dude ranching.
You will feel like a cowboy as you wind down the
scenic and secluded mountain trails. If you're
not singing "Get Along Little Cowboy" when you ride
back into camp, we suggest you stick to the fishing.
|
Our wranglers are locals who have been guiding
horseback rides in our neck of the woods for over
20 years. Our rides are enjoyable for the
novice as well as the veteran, and you will be riding
through spectacular Rocky Mountain scenery.

Fishing
|
Folks of all ages and gender have been coming
to this area of the country for the fishing since
before Hector was a pup. It is known by all
fishermen throughout the country. You'll enjoy
fly, lure and bait fishing right at The Cove. The
Rio Grande is right out your back door, and we own
the banks, which in layman terms means 'nah, nah,
nah"...no one else can fish it. We have a
quarter mile of Gold Medal trout fishing along the
Rio Grande River, right on The Cove's banks.
|
A good days work!
|

|
|
All visitors can enjoy open-water gold medal
fishing. In addition to the Rio Grande, fisherman
have access to hundreds of miles of river and stream
trout fishing and dozens of lakes.
|
Don't forget to buy your fishing license at
the Lodge, so you don't get picked up by the game
warden.

Hunting

Here at The Cove in Wagon Wheel Gap, we are
virtually at the entrance to hunting units 68, 76,
79, and close to unit 80. If you are planning to
hunt elk, deer or black bear with a bow, rifle,
muzzleloader or camera, you can stay at Cottonwood
Cove cabins or in our RV Park.
|
We have plenty of room to park your quads and
trailers. If you prefer horses for your transportation,
we have boarding pens available. We also sell Colorado
hunting and fishing licenses and off-road permits.
Please be sure to check with the Colorado Department
of Wildlife for regulations.
